When my Mother gave birth to me the placenta tried to come first and my mother had to stay in hospital as she was very poorly. By the time I was 1yr.old I reacted to the whooping cough injection and got brain damage causing me to have Epilepsy of which I had fits until I was 10years. I didn't come off medication for it till I was 13. As a result of this I was very hyperactive more so than what they clasify hyperactive in todays world. When I was,in junior school I was in class for children with special needs. However I worked my way through and ended up at ordinary comprehensive school. Despite all this I had to go through many changes like leaving many friends at the junior school as they lived so far apart, but also having a comprehensive who didn't know how to teach pupils like myself because they didn't have the right teachers to teach pupils who wanted to learn with the difficulties I had.
So I went to a private school where my parents had to pay for me to go there and the class sizes were smaller and I came out of there with minimal qualifications and still not knowing what I wanted to do. At this point Margaret Thatcher was in power and there was 4.000,000 unemployed and by this time I was 18 I had my 1st experience of depression although it wasn't recognised then. In fact I got a job in engineering which I detested but still managed for four years. I settled down with my girlfriend and we brought a house together. I went into my own line of work which didn't succeed and this was only the start of my problems. What with high interest rates I lost my business, the house that by this time was mine because I split up from my girlfriend and brought her share. And ended up homeless for the best part of a year. However by this time I was nearly 26yrs. and I accepted to go back to live with my mum and dad which wasn't an easy choice as I felt I lost all independence. I went to see her G.P. because they had moved to a completely new area by then. Despite this the G.P. put me on Largactil and he placed me under the local mental health services of which I was placed under a psychiatrist.
